Fireman’s Prayer

Give me the strength to save some life,

Whatever be its age.

Help me embrace a little child,

Before it is too late;

Or save an older person from,

The horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert,

And hear the weakest shout,

And quickly and efficiently,

To put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling and,

To give the best in me;

To guard my every neighbor and,

Protect his property.

And if, according to your will I have to give my life;

Please bless with your protecting hand,

My children and my wife.

Tribute to FDNY

You are the elite, you are one of a kind.

Over 300 of your own, you are struggling to find.

How could this happen, who could be so mean.

Million of Americans, are glued to the screen.

It was September 11th, 2001.

You reported for duty, your shift had just begun.

You are Firefighters and Medics, you do your job well.

In an instant, the world, turned into hell.

The first plane hit, and the fireball blew.

You responded to help, because that’s what you do.

You put others first, and never thought twice.

You never imagined you would pay, the Ultimate price.

There was screaming and chaos, and smoke all around.

But through it all you searched, you could hear your heart pound.

Was it an accident, Nobody knew.

Until a second jet airplane, tore through tower two.

The metal supports, handled the cold New York freeze.

But they couldn’t withstand, two thousand degrees.

Without warning, in an instant, Tower one came down

In seconds, 110 stories were piled on the ground.

My God, the devastation, entire companies were lost.

You chose to help citizens, no matter what the cost.

At our Firehouses in America, our fingers were crossed.

Praying they would say, you were found and not lost.

Our prayers went unanswered, the sad news was true

American’s across the world, have united for you.

Whether a Chief or a Chaplain, A Firefighter or Lieu.

All eyes are on television, our hearts are with you.

So many are trying to hold onto hope.

But the outlook is grim, and we find ways to cope.

Many fly flags, and others just cry.

Billions of people demand to know WHY?

The Nation is stunned, and filled with such sadness.

Asking the man upstairs, the method to his madness.

Your family and friends, will never have you to hold.

The warmth they once felt, has now turned stone cold.

I wish I was magic, and had the power to say.

This is all a bad dream, they aren’t lost today.

But reality sets in, and the nightmare is real.

And we all try to cope with the pain that we feel.

With 343 of you together, I can surely bet.

Heaven is about to have, the best company yet.

You are America’s heroes, your legacy will live on 4ever.

Your life here on earth, your loved ones will treasure.

Soar into your new life, be free, and fly high.

We will never forget you, you are FDNY.
